Sunday Morning Service

“True Gospel”

Matthew 4:17

The True Gospel speaks of the need for repentance.

A. Repentance-To feel such regret as to change one’s mind.

B. Repentance requires that we see ourselves as we are.

Jeremiah 17:9-The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Psalm 44:21-Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

See ourselves in comparison to God’s Word.

Agree with God about sin, and our sinfulness.

Romans 6:23-For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The True Gospel speaks of a King.

A. Our tendency is to desire rule

B. Our thinking is that we know better than anyone else.

C. Our true need is the King (Jesus).

2 Peter 2:1-But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

The True Gospel speaks of the need for a timely decision.

The enemy’s best weapon is the lie of time.

Jesus always had a sense of urgency.

John 9:4- I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Time is not a guarantee.
